There’s something about the vibe of a house which makes it a HOME. You might live in countless number of houses in your lifespan, but what exactly makes it your home?
Is it the old photo frames which are mismatched with your new decor, but still find a place in your living room? Is it that age-old creaking chair which still has visitors crib about its creak? Is it the old dresser which has a cartoon sticker stuck on its mirror with a story of its own? Is it the fragrance of the sandalwood agarbattis which has always been your staple across generations? Is it the smell of fresh ginger and elaichi brewing with the tea, the first thing in the morning? Is it the lines on a wall which marked the arithmetic progression of your height every month during your growing years? Is it the familiar roads which lead to the main entrance?
Or,
Is it the memories of the people captured in the photo frames? Is it the emotion attached to that one person who always loved sitting in the creaking chair? Is it the story behind how a 4-year-old decided to give his favorite cartoon sticker to someone he adored? Is it the memory of someone who always lit sandalwood agarbattis which felt like a spiritual cleanser? Is it the smile of eternal bliss after taking that first sip of the morning tea? Is it the giggles ringing in the corridor while watching your height grow by half an inch? Is it the ecstatic smile of the neighbour on the road when he watches you arrive at your entrance? Is it the people who are your cozy space, whenever and wherever?
Or,
Is it that one person whose presence makes everything seem alright?
Is it people with whom you feel safe and are always at ease? Is it related to things which become more than just materialistic because of the memories attached to it?
What do you think? What makes up your home?
