“A Heart’s First Flutter” – An Ode to that uncanny vibe of LOVE

Disclaimer : Please note that I have never been a poet and hardly have any poetic flair. This particular post is a consequence of relentless encouragement from a woman of substance, who kept prodding me to pursue writing from my heart. We have never been close friends and were introduced on rather strange circumstances at some point in our lives. Our relationship from that day to today, has come a long way. Today, I look up to her as a major inspiration and influence in my life. 

And ofcourse, this post is dedicated to the man who has been my rock-solid anchor in life. I could not have asked for a better partner for life. 

This is a poetic narration of that first vibe you feel for your loved one. We often experience instances in life when we meet someone in the crowd and feel an instant connect. Then, these uncanny vibes lead to the establishment of most stable relationships of our lifetime.

A Heart’s First Flutter

You were just an ordinary man

And me, just the girl-next-door,

Life was at its usual self

But, destiny had its own plans in store.

The first time we met…

I felt there was an unsaid attraction.

You seemed so reticent, yet so suave

I could not fathom if it was just an infatuation!

We met everyday, talked everyday

Trying to finish that last chore.

It was always about work

Never realised, since when I wanted to spend some time more.

That day, while leaving from work

You asked if you could drop me back home

I said ’No’, but my heart was saying a ‘Yes’

By then you were gone, leaving my thoughts to roam.

The next time, you saw me walk alone on the street

You asked me again to hop along.

With no hesitation this time, I had our first ride

And, I so wanted to ride with you the whole night long.

Days passed by, and months flew

Then, you asked one day, if we could meet up for a brew.

That evening was spent with endless chats

Unfolding our thoughts on life and its facts.

And that’s when I realised, I WAS THE FIRST CONFIDANTE FOR YOU!
