Best Time To Visit Mauritius
Mauritius is a beautiful island nation off the southeastern coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean. The nation includes Rodrigues and the island of Mauritius as well as the outer islands, which are all part of the Mascarene Islands.
With amazing white sand beaches, stunning blue waters, mountains, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, this is a country packed with plenty. Before visiting Mauritius, you must know the best time to visit Mauritius that will make your holiday one that you will never forget!
The Climate of Mauritius
Mauritius enjoys a relatively mild climate. Although temperatures are normal throughout the year with occasional rainfall, the best time to visit the island is between the months of April and June and between September and December. Mauritius is located in the Southern Hemisphere, with the summer and winter months contrasting with the weather in Europe.
Seasons Summer: January to April
The weather is hot and humid during these months, with peaks in the temperatures occurring in the months of December, January and February. Rainfall is abundant, especially on the central plateau. The daylight hours usually run from 5.30 PM to 7.00 PM.
This is the best time for scuba diving – especially December to March – and for deep-sea fishing. The cyclonic season extends from November to April correctly. Most of the time, the cyclone manages to escape from Mauritius due to the island’s small size. However, if they get close enough, inclement weather can affect vegetation and some wooden buildings. Please be assured that the beach resorts are constructed in such a way that they are able to resist strong cyclonic winds.
Monsoon Season: November to April
Although Mauritius experiences rainfall during the months of November to April, there is no such monsoon season. However, the months of January and February are prone to cyclones and thus are not recommended for travel to Mauritius.
The months of February and March receive the highest rainfall.
Winter Season: May to October
Temperatures are cooler during this season, and prevailing winds begin to blow over the island from the east and southeast. The lowest temperature is felt in August (20 ° C on the coast). Daylight hours generally run from 6.45 AM to 5.45 PM. This is the best season for surfing (June to August).
Weather:
On the central plateau, which is about 600 meters above sea level, the average daytime temperature varies between 20 ° C in August and 26 ° C in February. On the coast, temperatures are around three to five degrees higher. The northern and western parts of the island are warmer and drier than the eastern and southern regions.
We do not recommend to plan Mauritius Tours during the wet cyclone season, from January to March, and avoid the east coast in July and August, when the wind is strong.
